ABOUT
Hobby House Hill is a Bed and Breakfast Style Retreat Center with two separate work spaces created with Scrapbookers, Quilters, Hobby enthusiasts, or Women’s Church Retreats in mind. These spaces can easily be adapted for other needs. All the comforts of home await you in this cozy but spacious facility near the Texas country town of Bowie which is located 60 minutes northwest of Fort Worth. We are an easy drive from Dallas, Wichita Falls and even Oklahoma. Take a mini vacation away from life and enjoy a non-scheduled, relaxed and carefree weekend with us!
Hobby House Hill will delight you with its rustic country charm. The converted log home and additional buildings sit on 20 acres of quiet and seclusion. Here you can sit under the wide wrap around porch and rock your cares away while you watch the wildlife feed nearby. At night, soak in the hot-tub and stargaze into the crystal-clear sky that only the countryside allows you to view. When weather permits, our large outdoor pavilion is the perfect place to catch up on your journaling or on cold days, sit in front of a roaring fireplace in the main living room. Our cozy facility offers the retreat you have been looking for. Kristin, Di Anna and Dan Hull are your onsite hosts and are available for your every need. DIRECTIONS INFO
It is important to note that Mapquest, Maps, Google, and/or your GPS wants to bring you down a series of dirt roads, if you are traveling to see us from the south. Please ignore your map service if it asks you to get off on Wagonseller Road. If you continue on past Wagonseller, and take the highway 81 exit towards Bowie, it will reroute you through the town of Bowie avoiding dirt roads.
If you prefer here are directions you can print out and bring them with you:
From the Fort Worth area:
Take I-35W N to US-287 N / US-81 N via EXIT 60 toward DECATUR. You will stay on US-287 N / US-81N for 48 miles. You will pass Decatur, Alvord and Sunset. When you see signs for Bowie take US-81 north exit. The second stop light is Hwy 59. Turn right. Go three miles north on Hwy 59. At the blinking yellow light you will turn right on FM 1758 and go 3.1 miles. There is a major “S” turn in the road. After the “S” turn, look for the “Hobby House Hill” sign on the right.
From the Dallas area:
Take 114 W until you reach US-287 N / US-81 N. Head towards Decatur/Wichita Falls.
From the Oklahoma City, OK area:
Take Hwy 82 towards Wichita Falls which is just inside Gainesville, TX. Heading west you will go through Munster and into Saint Jo. As you are leaving Saint Jo (which is a small town) look for Hwy. 59 on your left, it will be a hard left. Go about 11 miles until you reach the city of Montague. At the big county courthouse Hwy. 59 takes a left at the 4 way stop sign. A lot of people think it goes straight so don't make that mistake. After you turn left on Hwy. 59 drive 11 more miles watch for a blinking yellow light. That will be FM 1758 which is where you turn left. (If Hwy. 59 goes to 4 lanes, you have gone too far). After you turn left on FM 1758 go 3.1 miles. There is a major “S” turn in the road. After the “S” turn, look for the “Hobby House Hill” sign on the right.
From the Wichita Falls area:
Take US-287 towards Fort Worth. Exit Bowie FM 174. Turn left on FM 174. FM 174 turns onto US-81 after a few miles. The second stop light is Hwy 59. Turn left. Go three miles north on Hwy 59. At the blinking yellow light you will turn right on FM 1758 and go 3.1 miles. There is a major “S” turn in the road. After the “S” turn, look for the “Hobby House Hill” sign on the right.
The house sits quite a distance off the main road. The Hobby House Hill sign is next to our gravel driveway. When you arrive, please pull your car on to the cement driveway where you will be able to unload your supplies onto rolling carts.
We do recommend you are careful about your speed on US-287, particularly as you pass through Decatur, the Highway Patrol Academy is in that area.
If you have any problems finding us, please call 940-872-1726.
